Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 16, 2026
SnapMark by CatPtain is a local-first browser extension for user-initiated webpage screenshots, local annotation, and PNG, JPG, or PDF export.
1. Information SnapMark Handles
Website content. When you click a capture button, SnapMark processes the selected webpage, its rendered content, page dimensions, and scroll-container state only as needed to create the screenshot. Screenshots and annotations are processed locally in your browser.
Account information. If you choose to sign in with Google, SnapMark receives the minimum identity information needed to create and recognize your account, which may include your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile image.
Authentication and entitlement information. SnapMark stores a SnapMark-issued authentication token, trial dates, and subscription or access status locally in extension storage and on SnapMark servers as needed to keep you signed in and verify access.
Public website analytics. SnapMark uses Microsoft Clarity on public product, pricing, privacy, terms, and contact pages, and PostHog on the public product homepage, to understand aggregate visits, navigation, clicks, scrolling, acquisition sources, errors, and page performance. These services may use cookies or similar technologies and may process technical information such as browser, device, approximate location derived from IP address, referrer, and interaction data. SnapMark does not intentionally enable these analytics tools on the user account or administrator console pages.
2. How Information Is Used
Website content is used only to provide the screenshot, annotation, and export features initiated by you. Account and authentication information is used only for sign-in, trial management, subscription entitlement, fraud prevention, security, and customer support.
Public website analytics are used to improve page usability, discover errors, understand acquisition sources, and evaluate product information. SnapMark does not use this information for credit scoring.
SnapMark does not monitor browsing activity in the background, build a browsing-history profile through the extension, or sell user data.
3. Local Screenshot Processing
The current SnapMark extension does not upload screenshots or annotations to SnapMark servers. Exported PNG, JPG, and PDF files are created locally in your browser. SnapMark will update this policy and request appropriate user consent before introducing any feature that changes these practices.
4. Permissions
SnapMark requests activeTab, scripting, tabs, sidePanel, debugger, storage, and host access to ordinary webpages. These permissions are used only after user interaction to identify the selected tab, measure and capture the page, handle complex scroll layouts, show the editing interface, and store account access state. The debugger attaches only during a requested capture and detaches immediately afterward. SnapMark does not inspect network traffic or execute remotely hosted extension code.
5. Service Providers
- Google provides account login and identity verification. The extension never receives your Google password, Google access token, or Google client secret.
- Creem may process secure subscription checkout. SnapMark does not receive or store payment card details.
- Tencent EdgeOne hosts the SnapMark website and account APIs used for authentication, trial, and entitlement checks.
- Microsoft Clarity provides analytics and session-insight tools on public SnapMark website pages.
- PostHog provides product and traffic analytics on the public SnapMark homepage.
Screenshots and annotations are not shared with these service providers by the current extension.
6. Storage, Retention, and Deletion
Local authentication and trial data is removed from extension storage when you sign out. Server-side account, trial, subscription, security, and transaction records are retained only while needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, prevent abuse, and resolve disputes. Public website analytics are retained according to the configured Microsoft Clarity and PostHog project settings. To request access, correction, or deletion of your SnapMark account data, contact service@catptain.xyz.
7. Security
SnapMark account communications use HTTPS. Authentication tokens are stored in extension storage and are used only with SnapMark account APIs.
8. Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to applicable browser extension store user-data policies, including Limited Use requirements.
9. Policy Changes
If SnapMark changes how it handles user data, this policy and any required in-product disclosures will be updated before the new practice is introduced.
