How to capture a nested scroll container

Some webpages do not scroll as one document. Instead, the useful content sits inside a panel with its own scrollbar. SnapMark Enhanced mode is designed for these application-style layouts.

Use Enhanced mode when: moving the mouse wheel changes content inside a panel while the page header, sidebar, or browser document remains in place.

Typical examples

  • Online documents with a fixed toolbar and an internal canvas.
  • Customer-support dashboards with a scrolling conversation panel.
  • Code viewers, logs, tables, and admin interfaces.
  • Modals or drawers containing long content.
  • Virtualized lists that render visible rows on demand.

Step-by-step workflow

  1. Identify the real scroll area. Move the pointer over the content and scroll. Confirm whether the inner panel moves independently.
  2. Prepare the page. Open the relevant document or panel, dismiss temporary overlays, and wait for visible data to load.
  3. Open SnapMark and choose Enhanced. This mode inspects complex scroll surfaces instead of treating the page as a simple document.
  4. Start the capture. Keep the selected tab active and avoid interacting with the page while capture is running.
  5. Review the result. Check that the first items, middle content, and final items are present in the correct order.
  6. Annotate and export. Add notes or blur locally, then export as PNG, JPG, or PDF.

Why Auto mode may not be enough

Auto mode works best when the browser document itself contains the full page. A nested container may expose only the currently visible portion to a standard full-page capture. Enhanced mode performs additional inspection and scrolling to reach content inside the panel.

Virtualized content limitations

Some applications remove rows from the document as they leave the viewport and create new rows while scrolling. This keeps the application fast but can make complete capture more difficult. Results depend on how the application loads and reuses content.

Important: when a page continuously changes, streams live data, or loads content only after manual interaction, verify the exported image before relying on it as a complete record.
